In 2013 we launched the dental care project “Beautiful teeth, healthy children”. It aims to reduce tooth decay by 50% among children under 14 and raise awareness of the importance of dental care and oral hygiene among children, teachers and parents.

The program is the local adaptation of a multi-annual international project (Global Grant – between Rotary clubs in Sweden and Hungary), which involved 1628 children from 67 classes in 9 schools, all primary school students from Odorheiu Secuiesc, over a period of 4 years.

The project included a free dental examination, packages with toothpaste and toothbrush, lectures, films about good and professional dental care, oral hygiene and healthy eating, including good dental hygiene.

The most important part of the project was supervised brushing, with parents at home and teachers at school. This helped the children get used to regular dental care.

Participants: pupils, teachers, parents, 16 UMFST dental students, 11 volunteer dentists from Odorheiu Secuiesc, local media. We distributed over 16,000 toothbrushes, 48,000 toothpastes and thousands of colorful and playful brushing registers.
