Interact is a Rotary club for high school students, with the aim of building communities and helping in the social field. Its members are young people who play an active role in community interests, want to contribute to solving problems through their activities, want to improve the quality of life, and want to make new friends both in their own community and around the world. It is a community that attracts and connects young people from around the world.
On October 23, 2024, we took the first steps toward establishing the Interact Club Odorheiu Secuiesc with the support of the Rotary Club Odorheiu Secuiesc:
The event took place in the auditorium of the Baczkamadarasi Kis Gergely Reformed College. Fifty-five high school students from four different schools attended the meeting, accompanied by six teachers and principals. During the event, we presented the international Rotary organization and our club, highlighting the most important and interesting projects for students in recent years. Attila Jeszenszky, assistant governor, and Alina Solovăstru, Head of Interact Clubs Romania, presented the essence of Interact in detail. The program ended with a presentation by Isadora, a student from Brazil, who participated in the RYEP program and shared her experiences as an Interact member.
At the end of the meeting, all interested students received a letter of intent. Based on these letters of intent, the Rotary Club Odorheiu Secuiesc initiated the registration of the Interact Club Odorheiu Secuiesc at Rotary International.
On January 23, 2025, the Rotary Club of Odorheiu Secuiesc received a letter from Rotary International recognizing the Interact Club Odorheiu Secuiesc youth organization, founded on December 11, 2024, thus establishing the first Hungarian Interact club in Romania. The twenty-three founding members were students from four high schools in the city: Tamási Áron High School, Baczkamadarasi Kis Gergely Reformed High School, Benedek Elek Pedagogical High School, and Dr. Palló Imre Arts High School.
The charter ceremony was attended by members of the Rotary Club Odorheiu Secuiesc, who initiated the establishment of the future Interact Club Odorheiu Secuiesc, as well as Alina Solovăstru, district leader of Interact clubs, and Attila Jeszenszky, assistant district governor of Rotary 2241. During the ceremony, Tamás Nagy Zoltán, president of the club and founder of the Interact Club Odorheiu Secuiesc, announced that the adult organization will support youth initiatives with resources, connections, and funding, and will also promote good relations. positive spirit, availability, volunteering, international relations, friendship, and the importance of world peace, involving them in their own programs and supporting programs designed by young people. In addition to organizing programs, Interact members will also have the opportunity to build international relationships and gain experience through an exchange program (RYEP), which even offers young people the opportunity to study abroad.
